British composer Guy Woolfenden OBE was Head of Music at the Royal Shakespeare Company for 37 years, working with some of the company’s finest actors and directors. He wrote over 150 scores for numerous RSC productions and adapted some of this music for performance in the concert hall. Sir Trevor Nunn, former Artistic Director of the Royal Shakespeare Company, said:
“Guy wrote wonderfully original, galvanising and haunting melodies that audiences yearned to hear again; music to be treasured, recorded and turned into suites and performed in concert halls.”
Tell us about your performances
In order to make this a true world-wide celebration of Guy’s music in 2015, you and your band are invited to read through, rehearse, workshop or programme a Woolfenden work. Just let us know which piece, and when and where it will be played (including events which have already taken place) to join the others already listed on the website under Performances around the World.
Details of your performance will also be projected onto the screen at the 24th May concert at the Swan Theatre, Stratford-upon-Avon.
Send us your photos & videos
We are also keen to hear from bands who have photos and/or videos of Guy working with their group for possible inclusion on the website – please email these to firstname.lastname@example.org.
